Dr. Theresa E. Cann

Dr. Theresa Cann is a scholar of comparative and international education and a trained student affairs professional whose career spans more than two decades in higher education. Much of her career was spent at a women’s college in the United States, an experience that deeply shaped her scholarly and professional focus on women’s access to and experiences in higher education, as well as on STEM education for women and girls. She drew on this inspiration to conceive of the idea of establishing NKAE University for women. A visionary strategic leader, Dr. Cann co-founded NKAE Educational Foundation to advance digital literacy and gender equality in education

Dr. Cann specializes in creating global education initiatives, strengthening institutional internationalization, and mentoring youth toward their academic and professional aspirations. Her distinguished accomplishments include a Fulbright Award to Japan, the David L. Boren Graduate Fellowship, the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship to Germany, the Journal of International Women’s Studies Fellowship, and the 2020 United Methodist Women in History Writing Award.
