Our Story

Promoting Digital Literacy and Gender Equality in Education

In 2022, we conceived of the bold idea to establishment the first all-women’s college, NKAE University (NKAE), in Ghana to expand women’s access to quality liberal arts higher education with a focus on STEM education and leadership development. At its inception, NKAE is poised to prepare women for critical solutions, generate bright ideas, take bold initiatives, and leverage confidence and community connections for career readiness.

To get started, in 2025, we launched an ambitious digital literacy program in Akobima, a small village in the Central Region of Ghana.  Our goal is to close the large gulf in educational resources in technological educational policy and practice in K-8 (Basic Elementary to Junior Secondary School level) in rural communities and less-endowed schools in Ghana. We care about rural communities because most of us trace our origins or family lineage to small villages where our parents or extended family members grew up and raised us to become who we are today. There is rich untapped potential in our rural communities populated by young minds, who are eager to learn and lead.  Our leaders are currently in our midst. In today’s fast-paced digital and AI fueled society, we believe with the appropriate resources and intentionally targeted training, we can prepare our students in rural communities to flourish and succeed through digital equity.

So, in 2023, we donated a few set of computer equipment to the basic school in Akobima. A year later, we expanded the donation to a full-scale computer center, the Robert Odoom Cann (ROC) Center. ROC Center consists of 20 new computers, complete with basic Robotics gadgets, serving 40 students to supplement the Ministry of Education ICT curriculum at the school. Today, at their own initiative, students have established a Computer Club and engage in Robotics engineering to satiate and sustain their interest and skills in digital literacy.

With digital equity in rural community schools and gender parity advancement through NKAE University, we are building a cadre of today’s leaders to realize the human capital of Ghana to its fullest capacity by igniting vibrant but untapped ingenuity.
