Our Approach
NKAE University works to eliminate barriers and advance inclusive, affordable, equitable, quality higher education through a dynamic academic atmosphere congenial to women’s unique needs — considering the biological, social, economic, and political conditions too often underemphasized by normative policy and practice. We foster an environment free from intimidation, harassment, discrimination, and financial hardship.
Why NKAE matters
Education is a powerful catalyst for opportunity — but persistent barriers continue to hold women and girls back. Though women make up just over half of Ghana’s population, their enrollment in higher education trails men’s, and few participate in leadership despite their capabilities and eagerness. We prepare women to generate bright ideas, take bold initiatives, and step into high-growth careers in AI, science, and technology.

WHAT WE DO
Non-tuition barriers
Household chores, family care, reproductive healthcare, period poverty, and support for pregnant and parenting students disproportionately interrupt women's education.
Underrepresentation in STEM
The belief that STEM is "for men" deters many girls, closing off access to high-growth, high-paying careers in AI, science, and technology.
Underrepresentation in leadership
Few women reach faculty leadership, governance, or public policy. NKAE's leadership framework builds a pipeline of women to influence policy for all.
