Dr. Reginald 0. Cann

Dr. Reginald “Reggie” Cann was born in the Ghanaian village of Akobima. In search of better economic opportunities, his family later relocated to the city of Cape Coast. Despite the move, he maintained a deep connection to his birthplace. During his adolescence, his father was enstooled as chief of Akobima, requiring Reggie to spend considerable periods in the village. These visits brought him face to face with the substantial disparities between the resources available to children in rural Akobima and those in Cape Coast. Witnessing this educational inequality left a lasting impression and instilled in him a lifelong awareness of the gap between individual potential and access to opportunity.

Reggie is a trained synthetic organic chemist and spent nearly three decades in the pharmaceutical industry in the United States before retiring in 2025. Drawing on his extensive corporate leadership experience, scientific approach to problem-solving, and deep commitment to serving rural communities, he partnered with his wife, Dr. Theresa Cann, to establish the NKAE Educational Foundation to advance digital literacy and gender equality in education.
